1. The Warm Up Start your session by gliding and doing some steady lengths of the pool, stretching out. This gives time for your blood to circulate and your muscles to warm up.
2.Try Wearing Goggles
3. Use The Equipment Use all the different types of floats, like kickboards & pull buoys as well as paddles and flippers. These make a session more fun and strengthen your arms and legs. Why not have a look at our swimming equipment section.
4. Change Your Pace Try not to swim up and down at one pace. Add some fast lengths into your swim, its much more beneficial.
5. Change Your Stroke
6. Concentrate On Your Legs For front Crawl, Backstroke and Butterfly, keep your ankles loose and kick from the hips. Try keeping your legs as straight as possible.
7. Do Some Lung Work Improve your lung capacity by swimming under water or holding you breathe for a couple of extra stokes after turning at the end of the pool. This will improve you swimming stamina.
8. Practice Your Breathing While Swimming Try concentrating on your breathing while swimming. Some people like to breath every 2 stokes, some every 3 strokes. Find something that’s comfortable to you.
9. Take Water With You
10. Wear The Correct Swimwear This one is for us men. You might feel daft, but you can swim a lot better in trunks that shorts. You flow through the water better and feel more balanced.
OK, give them a go…..
