Where there is a public or private pool there is more than likely a swimming club or two. These will cater mostly for children and teenagers, but there are a number which provide adult swimming lessons.
Adult swimming lessons are mostly provided through local council programs; please use our swimming lesson search options to find these.
So why get involved in club swimming?
In our opinion and experience, swimming clubs are the BEST way to learn, improve and become good at swimming, while at the same time having fun.
I will quickly tell you my own story, try not to fall asleep……..
I joined a swimming club aged 4 and left the same club 14 years later aged 18. I had so much fun over those years and swam in loads of competitions from local stuff to national stuff, meeting many of my present day best friends through this. I would recommend it to anyone, I really would.
Clubs teach swimming techniques for all the different swimming stokes.
Swimming Clubs will often teach lifesaving techniques as well.
Club Swimming allows you to do what you wish with swimming, from swimming for leisure, fitness or competing at all different levels.
BEST OF ALL they offer very good value for money, as most are run by qualified volunteers, often with lots of swimming experience themselves. These can often be the senior competitive club members.
When choosing a club, it’s good to check they are part of the Amateur swimming association, who provide guidance and training for British swimming clubs.
Search For A Swimming Club
Please use our SEARCH for a club options below to find your local club.
Just before you search a few further tips:
If it’s for your children, take them along to a few different clubs and see their reaction. Certain pools and clubs may put them off, so try another.
If it’s for an adult, see if the club caters for your needs. For example does the club need to provide competitive training sessions or adult swimming sessions for beginners?
