So you want to go swimming, that’s why we are here. So what you really need to do is find your nearest and in most cases, the most affordable place to swim.
This sounds obvious hey, however a well managed swimming pool with life guards is a lot safer than swimming in lakes, rivers, the sea etc…….
OK, so we have decided we need to find a swimming pool, GREAT, but how? Where are they? How much does it cost? When can I go swimming?
Just before we help answer these questions lets just explain who provides us with swimming pools. There are 2 main groups
LOCAL COUNCILS or better known as public swimming pools/baths
PRIVATE POOLS, mainly found in health clubs or hotels.
To be honest, here we are mostly interested in public swimming pools, because there are loads of them and they are the cheaper.
If you are interested in swimming on your holidays check this page out. Or if you are looking to join a health club follow this link for more information.
Maybe you are thinking about building your own pool, and saving on the hassle of going out and finding a one, STOP!!!! Please read our pages on owning your own pool first.
Right Lets Get Back To Answering Those Questions
Where is my local swimming pool?
How much will it cost to swim there?
When can I swim there?
We have made available to you a 3 OPTION SWIMMING POOL SEARCH. Sounds fancy, but basically we have searched the web and provided you with all the tools you need to answer the 3 questions.
YELL – not literally, but yell.com. Type in your postcode and it will give you information on all the swimming pools in its database. Click on the website or contact the pool direct. Also try Thomson local.
Localswimmingpools.co.uk – Self explanatory really. A website with a great list of swimming pools throughout the UK. Again all you need is a Postcode. This site will supply websites and contact information for all the swimming pools on its list.
Use our UK Council list which we have put together for you. Click on your local council, once there look under sports or sports & leisure (or something obvious like this) then swimming pools/leisure centres. 99% of councils will give you all the information you need.
Use all three and make a quick list of the results. Try a few pools and see which one suits you best.
These options have personally been the best way for us to find local swimming pools, opening times and costs. If you know of a pool, but can’t find it here, please contact us and we can pass it onto everyone. Thanks
